1. Jandakot Airport, located in the Jandakot suburb, is the second busiest airport in Western Australia. It functions as a general aviation airport and handles over 300,000 aircraft movements annually.
2. The Bibbulmun Track, one of Western Australia's most famous hiking trails, passes through the Jandakot area. The 1000km trail takes hikers through forests, rivers, and coastline from Perth to Albany.
3. The southern Perth suburb of Cockburn was named after Admiral Sir George Cockburn, a war hero who served in the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812.
4. Jandakot is named after an Aboriginal word meaning "the place of the whistling eagle." The area was originally inhabited by the Nyungar people, who used the fertile banks of the nearby Beeliar Wetlands for hunting and fishing.
